Grey Rose Architects are celebrating a recent planning approval for a remodel of a beautiful barn in Hallaton, the scheme includes a new accommodation wing, basement cinema, contemporary silo conversion and a gym pod!

There is a distinctive juxtaposition between the existing barn structure and the modern elements; the contrast allows the older features of the site, primarily clad in red brick, to stand out as the stronger elements as they are set against the subservient backdrop of the modern additions clad in metal. This also blends into the light tones found in the natural background and shade of the trees and it is not overpowering and somewhat neutral, the influence for its use being derived from the natural and immediate context.

The smooth planning application was the result of extensive dialogue with the planning case officer at Harborough District Council, through pre-application discussions and ongoing input / guidance with each design change.
